12 Men Enter . . . 1 Man Leaves!

(Bristol, TN)

Welcome to Bristol aka "The ThunderDome". Hello everybody, and welcome to the iWCR Silverado Series race here at the famous Bristol Motor Speedway.

Practice runs looked good, with lots of clean running with side by side action in the corners and passing down the front and backstretches. Should make for an exciting race. A smaller turn out thn normal, but still exciting racing!

The #3 of Johnny Reed Foley captured the pole with a blazing fast time of 14.970 edging out newcomer John Battista with his 15.010. Even Matwijejko was 3rd with a 15.131, Barry Jacobs Jr 15.178, and Randall “Scott” Drake with his 15.295 rounded it out the top 5 qualifying times. As the green flag would get ready to drop, the guys tightening their belts for a wicked ride on the ½ mile track.

Johnny Reed Foley would take the green flag and takes a huge lead going into 1 and 2 and spreading out the field down the backstretch. As the front of the field began to spread out, the #39 hot on the heels of the leader Johnny Reed Foley.

Lap 4 heats up with the leader #3 Johnny Reed Foley, slipping up on the high side, allowing the #39 to get past for the lead. Lap 11 would prove too tough for Paul Krumrei who has recent expressed his dislike of the new tire model, gets loose down the front stretch, and slamming his nose into the wall. Although a caution never flies, he pits and gets 4 new tires and adjustments.

Lap 16 proves that the tires setup for this track has been rough on more then one driver, as the #3 Johnny Reed Foley loses the tail end of his truck, a creating a bunch up of trucks allowing 5 trucks to pass him on the outside. No caution, but puts many trucks farther back into the field.

The #28 on Lap 20 gets loose off the corner and ends up pancaking the truck on the inside wall, although the caution never flew, he is forced to the infield to change tires as the pit crew goes to work on repairing his truck.

Lap 23 jumps out and bites the #4 of Zack Chahalis with the first official caution of the night. His beaten and bruised truck finally gets swallowed by the track when trying to hang onto the slide down the front stretch and ending upside down and getting clobbered by the #39 of John Battista, ending Zacks night.

The restart on Lap 31 proves to be a hug battle between the #39 and the #91 as one truck takes the high side with the #91 trying hard to dig into the low side. The battle continued for over 7 laps until the 91 drops in and tucks in behind the #39.

Lap 37 draw another caution due to a loose truck of the #34 down the front stretch, causing the #9, the #56, #48 and the #8 to get involved in the crash. Paul Krumrei proving that slamming on the brakes, only cause more damage by hitting team mate #56 Don Stewarts front end causing massive damage to both trucks.

Trucks start battling by fours, with the #3, #94, #91 and the #39 all battling for position with the #3 driving hard and putting himself into the #2 slot as the #39 pulls 10 car lengths ahead with the rest of the field tries to settle in for a long green flag run.

#94 Galen Gidman draws a cation due to a spin by himself on lap #57. This gives the rest of the field a long overdue breath of air along with some new tires and fuel for the rest of the race. Lap #65 proves to be too much for the #3 tires as his great slide job reduced his position from 2nd to 5th, and yet the driver just doesn’t want to quit and drives deeper and harder each lap trying to get those positions back.

Lap #90 the #3 spins without taking out anyone, bringing out the caution allowing drivers the ability to make more adjustments for the next final laps of the race. Everyone pits and takes fuel and tires, some 4 some 2.

Nine laps later on #99, the #94 and the #39 battle hard for the lead for 6 laps. But that major battle turns for the worst when the #94 gets into the back of the #39 causing a spin, slowing down the #94, allowing the #3 to take 2nd and the #91 to take the lead for the race.

Lap 131 draws yet another caution with the beating and banging of the #94 and the #3 in Bristol style racing, close yet dangerous.

The #3 spins allowing the rest of the field again to make adjustments for hopefully the last 20 or so laps left in the 150 lap race, however, the 94 takes the lead and with only 2 laps left in the race, Johnny Reed Fooley tasting victory, overdrives the truck that he has placed in the number two position, causing the truck to spin and thus ending the race under caution.

Congrats to another win to the #94!
